The sun peeked over bright and early, casting its golden rays across the sprawling fields of Taylor Farm. Mama had already started with her chores, feeding the chickens and milking the cows. The aroma of fresh-baked cornbread wafted from the kitchen window, rousing me from sleep. After a hearty breakfast, I joined Papa in the fields to help with the harvesting. It was hard work, but the fresh air felt good on my face.
We took a break for lunch under the shade of a large oak tree, sharing stories and laughter. Afternoons at Taylor Farm are always filled with adventure. One day we might be swimming. The next, we could be exploring the woods. As evening approached, we gathered around the campfire, roasting marshmallows under the twinkling stars.
